Smallville Is Gone…Forever

20 May

I’ve noticed in my site stats that many of the search terms that direct people to my blog are asking if Smallville has been cancelled. The answer is yes. Smallville ended its series last week, Friday May 13th, 2011.  The show lasted for 10 years and it was the longest running Sci-Fi series in American history.

For those of you new to the world of Smallville or have no clue of what I am talking about, let me give you a little information.  Smallville is the story of Clark Kent before he becomes Superman.  The series takes us from the meteor shower where Martha and Johnathan Kent find Clark to the day Clark accepts his destiny and takes to the skies as Superman.

So, for the people who keep searching “smallville cancelled 2011” you will be disappointed to find the truth.  As to why, I personally believe it was just time.  Ten years is a long time to keep a show going and to keep fans happy. Considering this show was all about the life of Superman before he was Superman means that once Clark became Superman the show was complete.

Who knows, maybe one day we will see a spin-off series. At least the fans hope so!

Stargate SG-1 pulls a close 2nd… Smallville only has 3 more episodes than it. However, if you count in SGA as well, which is a direct spin off (unlike Universe), technically it’s the longest running North American science fiction show. (15 years)
