23 Feb

I am flying high as a kite right now! This was my first winter in North Carolina, and its been an extremely mild winter.  I think the universe was trying to break me in slowly. After all, I am a “Floridiot”-the term of the North Carolinians.

So, back to the reason I’m flying high. It was 70 degrees today!! 70 degrees at the end of February in the mountains! As soon as i got home from work, which is at 2 p.m., I threw on a tank, shorts and my beloved flip-flops. I plopped my chair in the middle of the yard and soaked up the warmth of the beautiful sunshine.  I even got a bit of a tan!

I don’t think I really realized how much I missed the sun and the warmth.  Now, let me explain a few things. I hate being hot. When I say hot I mean walking outside and instantly sweating, a lot like what happens when you walk outside when you live in Florida.  It is not pleasant at all. I just like being warm and comfortable. Don’t get me wrong I like the cold.  I love winter clothes and hats and scarfs, just not doom and gloom cold. Give me some sun and 32 degrees and I’m a happy camper. Although if you give me 70 degrees and a nice breeze, I’m happy as a pig in sh**!

Needless to say, im ecstatic and in a very good mood. Hopefully it will continue through my weekend!

Mother Nature is pissed at us.

28 Dec

California is still trying to clean up from the recent storms. New York and New Jersey were at a complete standstill yesterday. Now, California residents are preparing for another storm. If that isn’t Mother Nature trying to get her point across, I don’t know what is.

We have progressed so rapidly that no one really thought about the negative side effects. Now, we are paying the price. Natural disasters are a part of the “norm”. At the rate we are going the world with end in 2012.

I’m not a believer in the 12/21/12 theory. If I were the ancient man writing the calendars, I would probably have stopped long before 2012. I think he got bored and said “Okay, I’ve had enough of these damn calendars!” Having said that, I do believe that we are on the road to disaster if we don’t slow down. We move to fast, and literally don’t take time to smell the roses. Animals are dying and losing their habitats, trees are being chopped down faster than we can say, “TIMBERRRR”, and we are just now deciding that it’s a good idea to go green. Seriously? I think we are a little late on that.  Before we know it, earth is going to look like it came straight out of a scene from Wall-e.
